1 Orchestra Logistics

•    Choose which Concert Curriculum to implement.

•    Establish partnership with school.

•    Identify music collaborator(s) who help prepare the students for their role.

•    Arrange for school visits by the music collaborator(s).

•    Identify a staff member to serve as a program liaison.

•    Arrange conductor visit(s) to school prior to first full rehearsal.

•    Arrange a timeline, including orchestra rehearsal(s) without students, with students, and performance(s).

•    Coordinate rehearsals and performances with school administration.

•    Make any arrangements necessary for hosting students (e.g. snacks).

•    Make arrangements for expanded rhythm section.

•    The Concert Curriculum requires audio reinforcement. “An Orchestra’s Guide To The Universe” also calls for video projections. Orchestras and venues will have to make arrangements for a/v services if not provided in-house.

•    The orchestra or venue typically handles customary concert production, including the printing of tickets and programs, publicity, insurance, and production staff.

•    The orchestra may include the concert as part of its family, educational, or seasonal programming, or may add it as a special event

•    A venue associated with an orchestra may take an active roll in program implementation.

•    Participants should become familiar with individualized program website that includes a shared calendar and communication tools for facilitating logistics.
